His donation sparked a backlash from his colleagues. Six months later, he was out. Neither Facebook nor Mr. Luckey has ever said why he left the social-media giant. Internal Facebook emails suggest the matter was discussed at the highest levels of the company. In the fall of 2016, as unhappiness over the donation simmered,

At least one billboard paid for by the group featured a picture of Mrs. Clinton and the phrase “Too Big to Jail.”
Mr. Luckey’s donation and the perception that he might be associated with a group that at times traded in misogynistic and white-supremacist messages,

Anduril, if I remember correctly, meant ‘Flame of the West’. I would be curious as to if it has any alternative definitions in Old (or middle) English. Tolkien, remember, was a philologist and knew those languages inside and out. His books are peppered with all sorts of hidden meanings and double-entendres.
As a name, it’s fitting. I don’t know who this guy is, but I have to say that I like his moxie.

Anduril was the sword reforged from the shards of Narsil, Isildur’s sword, when Isildur cut off the fingers of Sauron, separating Sauron from the one ring. That scene is in the beginning of the movies.

The formal L/libertarians are quiet, smart, armed, often well-connected people who defend conservatives when they’re too confused to defend themselves because Libertarians neutrally protect the process(not an ideology)–and also love to sue your ass, which FB doesn’t need. Flawed principles:
First is the nature of property, and property rights. Libertarians assume that individuals exercise complete control over their property, which they don’t. Other than for mental masturbation purposes, can you seriously imagine a society where eminent domain doesn’t exist? Where rail lines and power grids must be rerouted around every dissenting property owner?
By extension, if individuals “owned” land or other natural resources completely, they could clearly destroy the land and render it uninhabitable in order to extract resources. As long as the costs could be socialized, anything goes.
Also, taxes. Taxes aren’t theft, they are part of a social contracts with the state. The state “extorts” you because it can and it should. The natural way of human existence is that the powerful (the mob, gangs, or governments) provide safety in exchange for payment. The market isn’t some discrete entity; it is only what exists between the laws of a society.
Basically, the notion of unlimited right to property, and the worship of the market without regard to other nation’s externalities destroy the argument.

It solves many of the issues you mentioned such as disagreements over permanent ownership vs eminent domain, and manages practical utilitarianism of public goods, natural monopolies, and environmental conservation. It also creates an avenue of public revenue based on voluntary agreements instead of coercive back-end taxes such as income, capital gains, corporate, estate, sales, value added. Because they really are theft.

I find libertarianism more akin to Christianity: each individual is valued by a higher power and has value, in his own way, and each owns his own self and behavior. Give unto Caesar and all that, but up to a point, it doesn’t mean you should allow Caesar to own your body in bondage by making you toil all day for his enrichment, nor should you allow him to take over your spirituality by making you pray to him and his idols (see Caesar’s icons in those murals depicted in this post). Additionally, in today’s law-infested society, we need a bit more freedom, not less. Once we get to a reasonable level is when we can start debating how much further to go, or whether we are approaching anarchy. I say let the government govern, protect the borders and public order, and let us worry about what bathrooms we use, or which doctor to go to, for which medical treatment. Etc

Nobody has a property interest in it so it is destroyed to get profits while they can be got.
Since you believe in taxes for a social contract that means you prefer a welfare state over private charity. Again charity through the state lacks the accountability. Hence single motherhood being so prevalent. Why should a woman put up with an ordinary productive man when the state will extract the wealth from him under the social contract? And if you want roads, fuel taxes make nice user fees. Most anything that is a basic government function can be accomplished with user fee based systems. The “social contract” stuff is how the shitlib agenda gets funded and pushed. How it grows. Hence a big reason why shitlibs hate principled libertarians.

Gary Johnson was a liberal left-leaning Republican when he ran the state of New Mexico as governor for a couple terms. No one in my circle of libertarian acquaintances regard either him, his running mate Bill Weld, or the Koch brothers, for that matter, as libertarian. They are lovers of big gov and its collaborations with privileged big business.
Every libertarian I know voted Trump. Most no longer support the national party, though they still voted libertarian at the local level when a candidate was available. In 2016 the “Libertarians for Trump” movement was started by several hard-core contributors at the libertarian website of Lew Rockwell. Professor Hans Hermann Hoppes ( who is a monarchist ) argued that in an ideal society the “commons” would be defended by the nation’s leader as though it were his private property. Rockwell himself ( who is Catholic ) has advocated the Catholic doctrine of subsidiarity and explicitly argued for closing the borders.

Gary Johnson was not a beta. He started his own business (construction) and built it from one person (him) to a thousand-employee business. That’s why he hated regulations so much. He had a discipline of iron and climbed really tall mountains, participated in a lot of grueling sporting events, etc. He’s no soy boy. Good catch, I’ve noticed a lot of ugly art in offices, especially law firms and the more political places. It seems almost on purpose, to make one recoil. Either that or the mandatory shout out to some oppressed culture, or a mix of ugly and politically correct at the same time, which must make progressives swoon. Reading the Captain’s observations here, I’m beginning to notice the artwork in movies or TV series as well, and they tend to follow the pattern.

Some people in the Stockholm area are – or have or will – move/moving to Åland, an archipelago in the Baltic, nominally part of Finland but with lots of useful exemptions, sortof semi-independent.
And Åland allows for the Brigitte Bardot solution; you can move to a place that does not allow immigration. Technically, I believe Åland is OK with immigration from the EU, but I am not sure. In any case, it is open to Nordic citizens (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, possibly Iceland). Only catch is you cannot own real estate. Oh, and the other catch (or not), the islands are essentially 100% Suecophone (although most speak Finnish as a foreign language).
So, the benefits are
1) No immigration -as noted above.
2) Home schooling is allowed, forbidden in at least Sweden, and also in Germany.

The way the character responds to any challenge or threat from his nephew is to scoff and say incredulously, “That’ll be the day.” I thought this was funny and just vague enough to throw back at a shit-test.

PARADISE, Calif. — The dead were found in burned-out cars, in the smoldering ruins of their homes, or next to their vehicles, apparently overcome by smoke and flames before they could jump in behind the wheel and escape. In some cases, there were only charred fragments of bone, so small that coroner’s investigators used a wire basket to sift and sort them.
At least 29 people were confirmed dead in the wildfire that turned the Northern California town of Paradise and outlying areas into hell on earth, equaling the deadliest blaze in state history, and the search for bodies continued Monday…
