And the effect is even stronger for girls who go to good schools and have a college educated parent. Of course article is positioned as this is a negative, instead of it saying that even young women want to have kids with top men.

This paper studies the effect of exposure to female and male “high-achievers” in high school on the long-run educational outcomes of their peers. Using data from a recent cohort of students in the United States, we identify a causal effect by exploiting quasi-random variation in the exposure of students to peers with highly educated parents across cohorts within a school. We find that greater exposure to “high-achieving” boys, as proxied by their parents’ education, decreases the likelihood that girls go on to complete a bachelor’s degree, substituting the latter with junior college degrees. It also affects negatively their math and science grades and, in the long term, decreases labor force participation and increases fertility.

The effects are quantitatively important: an increase of one standard deviation in the percent of “high-achieving” boys decreases the probability of obtaining a bachelor’s degree from 2.2-4.5 percentage points, depending on the group.
The alpha male is rarer than the young hottie. Women instinctively know this and grasp this reality of the sexual market, so their bodies and minds promptly reorient to “catch the alpha male’s attention and birth his champions before he finds someone younger, hotter, tighter, and more feminine than a shrewish, careerist shrike” when an alpha male lands in their social circle.
Chasing after college and credentials and a “good career” are only serious considerations for women who are surrounded by uninspiring beta males.

I think from a basic level Alpha Males just have higher masculinity that normal men do.They have higher levels of testosterone and free testosterone. And they understand what their masculinity can and cannot achieve. They are masters of their own strengths and weakness.
They are more prone to initiate sex from a woman. They are in control of themselves and are able to control their environment more than anyone else around them even their superiors. They will let you win to let you lose. They do understand the importance of their reputation and do what it takes to guard it, but sometimes they will take a hit to their reputation in the short-term if that means long-term success.
Have you ever been good at anything? So good at it that even when you meet someone who may have a better skill-set in that particular field than you, you can still find ways around it and still beat him? This is what the Alpha Male is like in life. He’s just better at life than you. In any situation in life where you would think yourself at a disadvantage he is able to find the advantages and make the best out of it. This is where all of that confidence derives from. He may not be a winner in everyone’s eyes, but he is able to find wins where more men would lose.
This is why he is overconfident, because he doesn’t care if he loses sometimes, he knows he has more wins than loses and there is no point in looking weak in any situation. It’s not about being stupid because he thinks he knows it all. It’s about never showing weakness no matter what. One example I keep in mind is how Donald Trump used to forget someone’s name but even after that person corrected him, he would still keep calling that person the wrong name.

It sounds like a lot of guys on this site (a) live on one of the coasts or at least in a major metropolitan area, (b) have been exposed to the really dark side of female nature, and (c) have been wrapped around the axle at least once.
This is my own experience, so take it with a grain of salt.
I live in Texas. Houston, specifically.
I’ve found three things to be true, at least here in Houston: (1) most guys completely fall apart physically after 35. The ones that are considered in shape have that weird runners hunch and don’t appear Virile or strong; (2) most guys don’t have their finances on lock down; and (3) most guys are uncomfortable in social settings that are not sports-related with long-time close friends.
With those points in mind, my own personal experience has shown me that if you look like you have spent some time under a barbell (if you are lean and muscular, the older you are the bigger the return is on this; ie a 50 year old man that looks like he lifts will immediately stand out regardless of anything else because it’s so rare); have your finances on lock (there are some subtle tells, not necessarily flashy clothes or car etc ); and have enough skill to confidently handle yourself in social situations (let’s call this last part ‘game’), then the pool of the type of women you are interested in seems to widen. This would include the types of women that I’ve heard described on this forum.
Again, this has been my own experience. Your mileage may vary.

Hell, I’m out in Gomorrah by the Sea (LA) and the soyboys are falling apart after 25!
It’s sad as I don’t think any of these men ever did any lifting, let alone something as basic as pushups or pullups. I know the soy diet contributes to that flabby, amorphous look, but there’s negative muscle definition; non-existent.

The problem is that we have a corruption of perspective due to modern conditions.
The so-called “beta provider” was an alpha through most of history. That’s naturally what men do to PROVE their masculinity: provide. Our programming is based on the fact that we’re hunting beasts. Women cannot hunt dangerous game (or any game, really), so providing was for eons a literal test of masculinity.
This persisted through most of time. Women simply can’t handle field work. They can’t handle the physicality of most trades.
“Beta providing” IS proof of masculinity. The problem lies in modern office jobs. Suddenly, brawds get paid for sitting on their ass in a cubicle. They no longer need, directly, the results of the “hunt” provided by, say, a plumber.
Even though that plumber is part of the solid bedrock of actual male achievement that keeps everything running and permits her survival, she can’t PERCEIVE that and thinks that he’s a failure because he can’t provide any bucks in excess of whatever she’s earning from her Mickey Mouse career.
Providing, the direct proof of masculinity, has been devalued by modernity. Men haven’t changed; the frame has changed, and made them LOOK worthless to women, whereas 80 years ago exactly the same men would have looked masculine and irresistible because of their providing and their role in keeping civilization functional.
In a fashion, labeling these chaps as “betas” is a massive failure of understanding and an acceptance of a false frame. The achievements of the plumber, the electrician, the engineer, the truck driver, the factory worker, the machinist, the construction worker, hell, even the shelf stocker, are STILL keeping everything running. This is ACTUAL male achievement.
The problem is that conditions have MASKED this fact, and transformed what might be called a huge mass of “lesser alphas” into what are now dismissed as “greater betas” without changing either the actual nature of these guys, or their necessity to the social fabric.
