My state is an “open carry” state where a person is allowed to carry a firearm openly, and only if it’s concealed does one need to get the license to carry… or if one chooses to do so in one or two of the largest cities…
… but do so at your own risk, of course, because police will respond in an annoyed manner to normies kvetching about “a man with a gun”. and detain you and take your gun from your person until they “sort things out”.
Over the years, and numerous civil suits, most police are now aware of the law and don’t make too big a deal of it.
One time a friend of mine was approached by a cop and asked “Why are you carrying a gun? Are you expecting trouble?”
Friend replies: “If I was expecting trouble, I’d be carrying a rifle.”
