I recall reading on here that the biggest problem for jews is the globalization of Noticing.

The tectonic plates continue to rub along the fault line, building up immense seismic energy.
Honestly, it will be a miracle if this resolves in a controlled manner.

Buddhists practice “unconditional love,” but if you pay attention, it isn’t about gushing emotion into the world. It’s actually a counterbalance to dispassionate, equanimous, ZFG, outcome independence that would otherwise leave a practitioner cynical or robotic. It’s basically part of learning a type of “state control” that keeps the body and mind in an optimal condition. Other emotions can also be harnesses and focused, but loving compassion is safe to disseminate over the counter.

Somebody’s got to salt my French Fries. But seriously, my guess is that this has more to do with money more than anything else. The prisons are overcrowded with nonviolent offenders and it costs too much to house them. In my state there is a recent law that the nonviolent prisoners only have to spend 65% of their sentences. Violent offenders are released after 85% of their time served. It’s no longer accepted that keeping people locked up lowers recidivism.

I can feel nothing but sorrow for that little boy being put on that stage in a gay bar. His trajectory in life, save some miracle, has already been set by his parents.
