But this last year or two has brought me to the point where I want nothing more to do with black people. Not because of the color of their skin, not because of crime stats or inner city problems, or anything like that. But simply because it has become too danged dangerous to one’s livelihood and reputation. Any statement, any action, any situation – no matter how innocent – can now be interpreted as “racist” and cause a person to lose their job or find themselves in the middle of a major protest.
I now find myself completely on edge any time I am around anyone of minority status, and especially anyone who is African American. What if the way I say “hello, how are you?” is interpreted as demeaning? What if I ask them to help me on a task and it’s interpreted as me trying to treat them like a “slave”? What if I don’t ask them for help and they interpret it as “racism”? What if one of my associates does something stupid and I get crucified because I was within 100 yards of them and didn’t “act”?
It’s just too much stress. So I’m coming to the point where I want to find the whitest community in America and just not have any chance of dealing with this garbage. Ferguson, BLM, U Mizzou, etc etc – in the space of a short time it’s turning me from a tolerant sort of person into…. well…. I guess you could almost say a bit of a racist.
And I doubt I’m alone in this.

– I attended a mostly white University and I resent that you would presume that I somehow didn’t measure up. I worked just as hard as my white contemporaries and in fact, in my English course (I was an English major) it was white males who attempted to copy off of my paper and tests, not the other way around. I also outscored all of my white male classmates in my Latin class, the average was 70%, I got a 90% and I received a letter and I made the Dean’s list as a Freshman.
I think this was a very uncalled for comment for you to make.
