@Heartiste We’re nearing the tipping point but it is unclear which way we will tip – whether the left just starts killing and jailing people or whether the right carries out a massive political/ethnic cleansing.
The left has the tools to largely silence opposing views but I don’t see them being satisfied if someone may be sharing Badthink in an email, posting it in an obscure place online or even just thinking it. And if they managed to eliminate Badthink in all these places, they would just change the definition of Badthink to create new enemies. The left is evolving from being merely a philsophy to excuse the corrupt acquisition of power and wealth by the elite to being the means through which the dregs of society live out their dreams of dominating others.
If the left could be satisfied, we would reach an equilibrium and just settle into predictable totalitarian squalor. Almost everyone in the US is now a leftist of some sort but the left just keeps pushing and demanding more. I don’t see them ever letting things stabilize.
