I didn't get into it, but evolution in an environment of widespread contraception use would also work on men, probably selecting for men who have an equally strong desire for family formation and for women who are low probability infidelity/cuckoldry risks.

You're right. The biggest fertility drops worldwide are among women aged 15-19, followed by women aged 20-24. Researchers say that smartphone adoption and social media are the primary cause of the drop, but I think it's more directly the result of cheaper and better contraception reaching all corners of the earth.
Which allows us to conjecture about the future of those societies where the Pill, abortion, and other contraceptive technologies remain permament fixtures of the culture. (And also where social media and smartphones almost exclusively occupy the attentions of young women.)
Women who, for whatever reasons (religious restrictions, low (or high!) impulse control, desire for marriage and children at an earlier age, strong moral feelings against casual sex), eschew contraception will be the ones to pass on their genes in greater number, winning the Darwinian sweepstakes.
Basically, a contracepted world will inevitably shift evolution toward favoring the fitness of women who deeply desire children and the partner intimacy that goes with it. Knock-on effects of that shift include fewer women in post-high school education, fewer women on corporate career tracks, and more women marrying and getting pregnant at younger ages.
It will also encourage women to heed more discriminating and serious mate choice criteria, because the ever-present looming spectre of pregnancy will require the fastidious avoidance of unreliable cads or men who by their relatively higher SMV pose a greater risk of "pump and dump" abandonment.

Definitely might be something to that theory. Prosperity and comforts of modernity diminish the urgency to have children by mooting the subconscious calculation of their assistance in the parents' old age.
Honestly, the global decline in fertility (except in sub-saharan Africa) is one of the great mysteries of our age. Every theory to explain it that I've read makes sense to me. Maybe it's as simple as humans grasping on an instinctive primal level that the world is overpopulated and to avoid Malthusian horrors humanity has decided, en masse through mechanisms we don't understand yet, to curb childbearing?
I don't know for sure, but I do know that this selection event we are experiencing is guaranteed to evolutionarily advantage those women with very strong maternal instincts.
Women who love getting pregnant and love raising children, regardless of economic or cultural circumstance, will fill the ranks of humanity in the not too distant future.
Unless some....interventions....were to occur. Such as, for example, a complete and total prohibition on contraception and career tracking for young women.

We ridicule people for talking about freedom so much, because often they do it to avoid racial issues and immigration. But talk about freedom is efficient because it is important for us. Not as important as some make it out to be because of the Liberty writings during the Revolution. But still. We Westerners can’t really live without having a sphere on our own that the government and priests and others have no control over. And because of this freedom we can create great things, with free minds.
Other peoples never had this instinct. They always belonged to someone else. The Russian serf or the Chinese coolie. Their dream to be on top so they could command instead.
But in John Wayne’s speech you see the absence of racial thought. And he couldn’t add it. Maybe in those days, those who’d like to add it thought that it didn’t matter anyway, things would stay more or less the same. There weren’t many blacks where you lived anyway – the Southerners made their bed, they had to lie in it. And immigration wasn’t even on the radar.

Captain, I usually like your posts but I can’t agree with you on this one. My mother lost her home when Stalin’s Red Army invaded Finland in 1939 – she and her family had 10 minutes to pack their bags and board a train bound for safety in western Finland as the Red Army approached. Her village was burned to the ground. She remained homesick for her little Karelian village for the rest of her life (she died at age 88). My father fought against Stalin’s army as an artilleryman in the Finnish Army and he was proud of his service until the day he died at age 92. His coffin was draped with the Finnish State flag and his wartime service medals were displayed upon the flag at his funeral. I had relatives in Estonia who were shot or sent to toil in the mines of Kolyma in eastern Siberia by Stalin’s NKVD. Whether Stalin hated the Zhidi or not is irrelevant to me – he caused a lot of suffering and death among millions of Aryans in many countries, the dysgenic result of which has caused Russia to be terribly weakened as a result. I attended a lecture by a Russian Orthodox priest shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union, and he said that according to the Russian Orthodox Church it would probably take around 150 years for Russia to recover from the damage that was inflicted upon it by seven decades of Soviet rule.
