I happened to be in a large, southern city, on the day of these protests. I was there on other business, but the protesters marched by so I got a good look at them. The most common type I saw were chubby, white, middle-aged schoolteacher type women, along with their limp-wristed male partners. As they passed, some sort of mixed-race thing, that I believe may have identified as a woman, offered me some printed materials. But, I told her, âNo, thank you. I like rifles.â Then she promptly moved on.

Is the US army predominantly pro 2A? What about the guys at the top of the US army? If the army decides to go against their own people then how much would having a semi automatic really help against F-16s and tanks? I am asking because the purpose of the 2A is to protect against a tyrannical government and if the army is on the side of said government then I donât think there is too much gun owners will be able to achieve. It seems like the army is the real deterrent to liberalism and not conservative ideology per se. Being in the military gives you a very binary view of things (good-bad, live-die) and also you have to be a realist which is exactly the opposite of modern liberalism where feels are above facts. A coup will happen much earlier than the US government attempts to tyrannically rule over its own people.

If you are talking about civil w@r, that canât happen until people reach the end of their rope and decide to chew through it and go free, or escape, as you like. Or are set free by their masters.
But any severe interruption to the civilian economy that could produce such a reaction would be accompanied by the end of useful money, regular food and fuel deliveries and so on.
In an attempt to re-organize and kickstart those functions, the military woould have to operate as a single unit but that would require the installation of an agreed dictator at the center. But what could he do? Legalize military foraging, the end of private property and the seizing of resources. He couldnât dictate efficient production and distribution even if every soldier in the country were behind him. That requires trust, confidence, markets, rule of law, etc.
So, no. The military would break up too. Everything would become as local as fuck. People would be at the mercy of their location and local conditions.

VD is right. If it ever got so bad that actual hot civil war was imminent or in progress, many of the best (ie whites) would bail and go look after their own families/home communities.
Itâs not something that Iâve ever heard anyone active service talk about, but plenty of retired guys say theyâre glad theyâre back in their home communities where they feel comfortable, and itâs a place worth fighting for (in so many words).
Asymmetric warfare is what itâs called these days, and the Armed Forces have learnt a lot about how to defeat it over the last 15 years. Having said that, thereâs PLENTY of guys who know it backwards that will be using the knowledge theyâve gained for the cause of good when the time comes.
And I can also tell you that there are many, many examples where guys have flat out refused to âpush the buttonâ when they thought the order was borderline dubious. Many of the Military are NOT mindless automatons (although yes, some are), and in fact one of the results from the WW2 experience is that itâs expected of you to do so. Do it frivolously and youâre in trouble, if youâre acting in good faith you wonât get in too much trouble.
My point is that there is NO WAY the USAF is going to go around dropping bombs on civilians for shits and giggles (even those who fly Lawn Darts), they wouldnât do it to sand niggers so theyâre certainly not going to do it to their own people.

We wouldnât resist the government by having set piece battles against the military like it is the 19th century. Read some history. Would the Ukrainians have had to take on the Red Army on the battlefield to stop collectivization and genocide? No. Tyrants enforce their rule through police, bureaucrats, judges, politicians, journalists, etc. If all these people and their families can be shot every time they go outside, that puts some narrow limits on what the government can do without the consent of the people.

I donât think anyone believes that armed citizens could actually defeat the US government if the USG were to go all out against them. The idea is just to make it hard enough for the USG that they would have serious second thoughts about trying it. Itâs the same as the reason that, say, Lithuania, has a military. No one thinks the Lithuanians could actually turn back an all-out Russian invasion, they just might be able to make the attempt painful enough for the Russians that they would decide the attempt isnât worth it.

Yes if the us had the balls they could have nuked a few large cities and solved the problem quick, but if they wonât even bring their A game against foreign enemies in a foreign nation who want to chop off their heads and rape their daughters, what are the odds that any US president or general would nuke New York to kill a couple hundred thousand angry Americans?
A Jeep and a gun is plenty to take out the enemy ground forces (especially since the us military and police force would be vastly outnumbered in any civil uprising, even if you assume they all stay loyal to the Clinton type tyrant). And without ground forces, planes and tanks and aircraft carriers are useless when trying to control a nation.
