Speaking of poetry, check out the films of Leos Carax–imagine Jean Luc Godard without the Marxist guff and a healthy dose of Celine (Carax is an unrepentant admirer). Total shitlord, too (e.g. his poetic treatment of AIDS in “The Night is Young”). “Les Amants du Pont-Neuf” is one of the most goddamn beautiful films ever made, and a good place to start.

Negative hit? That’s using the word wrong. Neg hit is one of the most misunderstood terms in PUAistry. The word was originally developed by Mystery (I think) way back in the alt.seduction.fast days of USENET. It meant a little less-than-becoming comment to an amazingly attractive girl, to lower her self-esteem a bit. See, a woman won’t accept a man who is lower than her, so you can either raise your status or lower hers, and when you are roughly equal she becomes receptive to seduction. It was just another tool in the PUA’s toolkit, only to be used with very attractive women.
It got taken out of context almost immediately and misused as “insult women”. You don’t use neg hits on ordinary cute girls, just cast-iron bitches who think they’re hot shit (and they’re not wrong, they really are hotties). And even then the neg hit isn’t an insult, it’s just less than a compliment, delivered with smoothness and self-assurance, that makes her think twice about herself and her insecurities.
Fast forward to today and Trump’s not even using the word in any way close to its definition. Yeah words change blah blah but the neg hit was supposed to be a rarely used tool and instead it’s THIS. Ugh.
