You tempt me to quote the whole of the third chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans, or perhaps the whole letter, but I fear the effort is wasted.
Paul’s premise, as you know, is that men cannot, of themselves, achieve the righteousness of deity, “…a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law,” with the caveat that “faith without works is dead.”
Alas, I have not met a man who claims faith in deity who also upholds the Law. Faith seems an excuse for law-breaking, as Paul admitted Christian detractors accused even in his time. Hence my departure from theism. But don’t interpret that as weakness; Abram left Ur.
As for my pale skin, it doesn’t matter except as a proxy for the righteousness of my pale-skinned ancestors who died to save friends.
