It used to be that a teenager would suffer a burning embarrassment in front of her classmates or friends. It would feel awful, but she would get over it in time, and realize that the faux pas did not linger in the minds of her peers nearly as long as she imagined it did.
That was life before the phone camera facilitated omnipresent citizen surveillance.
Now, a teenager's embarrassment can spread faster and wider than school hall gossip, and get uploaded for the world to enjoy in technicolor HD.
The only thing I marvel at is how so many zombiefied Americans believe this has little to no impact on a typical teenager's mental health and emotional development.
