The DST vs ST argument in our modern post-industrial context seems to be a proxy war between Night Owls and Early Birds. If you like getting up early and retiring early, you'll love year-round Standard Time. If you like sleeping in and drinking at pool parties until 9pm, you're a DST lover.
The beanermobile invasion has added the wrinkle of auto and truck accidents occurring more frequently in morning darkness. Diversity has made once-White neighborhoods more dangerous to White children who will walk to school or to bus stops in morning darkness under a DST regime.
In other words, prioritizing lifestyles according to healthy natural rhythms of Nature is taking a backseat to human-induced social calamities.

(The net Google is casting is bound to come back to haunt it. As they try to act in a quasi-governmental mode, they catch criminals who may actually be dangerous to THEM. Who knows who may firebomb the Googleplex next?)

Part of the problem with Google is it doesn’t know where to stop. It sees “all information” as being useful, wants to own it, proprieterize it … and this leads to situations in which Google becomes the unwitting villain.
As a corporation, it seeks to conform to the dominant ideology. In Nazi Germany, they would be good Jew-haters. In Soviet Russia, they would be a longstanding member of the nomenclatura. But in today’s America they are liberals with a privacy-violating bent. The Big State (Deep State?) has seen cheap computing power as a way to do wizardry, and is acting greedily and appropriately, given its standing.
Google will die if it continues this (without government blessing; with government blessing, it can go on eternally on its trajectory into the Orbit of Orwell)
