This article is blatantly wrong. France never had an age of consent, but they had and still have an age of sexual majority which is 15, like in a lot of European countries. The new law offers more protection of children, not less, but apparently the journalist didn’t understand the nuances of different legal systems.

Seems that was a part of the hubbub that started the ball rolling originally, namely, that France had no official age of consent, legally-speaking.
And with this new bill, they still have none… while the penalties of the new bill are stiffer, there’s also the ongoing burden of prosecution to prove coercion (mental or physical), force or violence.

Ousted white male dems who remain unrepentant commies can f off, true. But not all castoffs are hopeless just because they might be Irish Catholic. For example, when my pops was growing up in N Ireland in the 60s he was a fan of liberalism, the Kennedys, the Beetles, etc. By 1984 when we emigrated to USA legally the whole family were Reagan fans and a few years later after citizenship eligibility my pop registered as a Republican and has voted that way ever since, including Trump.
In fact, political scientists are trying to track the reasons of Irish Catholic defection from the Democratic Party, but I think it’s just a correction of earlier misconceptions. Ireland had real reasons for social justice movements, recognized by people like my pops who participated in “One Man One Vote” demonstrations in Belfast as a student. But in America, anti-catholic bigotry was pretty much dead by the 1960s, and the American left haven’t had a worthwhile protest since Vietnam except for maybe other military adventurism like the war on terror (which dem legislators mostly supported anyhow). In the run-up to the 2016 election, a few articles did slip through the MSM gates wondering that if such a high % of whites and white men voted GOP that it might tilt the election to Trump because states like PA, OH, WI, MI, IA are 80%+ white. A little publicized development happened in Minnesota where a majority of whites voted for the GOP presidential candidate for the first time since Nixon in 72. If we can get the white GOP vote to 80%, we’ll be able to alter the SCOTUS to that point were we can deport more aggressively, strip EC votes from states sanctuary states, end the anchor baby loophole, etc. Voting does matter, the 2016 election showed us that.
