Trav777, the FBI is a redundant organization, one whose function should probably fall to the Marshals Service.

But know one thing, the rank and file investigators at the Bureau are overwhelmingly conservative, and former military. Comey pulling his stunt last year caused an internal mutiny and you can bet your bottom dollar that they were instrumental in getting information to the Inspector-General.

On a more serious note, is this not-so-secret secret memo really going to be the bombshell we well-intentioned young White liberals hope it’s going to be… up to and including criminal charges against FBI personnel?

No, man. There are no “bombshells” or “smoking guns” that directly create felicitous political consequences for us. We have seen the implosion of that kind of Every-Story-is-Watergate overkill before our very eyes in Trump’s manhandling of the media, which have been promising “evidence” of “Russian collusion” any day now for a year (as the meme in the OP is mocking).

Nunes, like a smart student of Trump/Andrew Breitbart, is manipulating hostile coverage with his canny handling of the memo. He is stretching out its effect over a month rather than releasing it for a one-minute story only to have it buried by the media as a “nothingburger.”

This is a patient prosecutor laying out a largely circumstantial case for conspiracy in the court of public opinion. He has to troll his enemies out into the open by encouraging false confidence, and the final message has to be simple enough to be digested by people who don’t pay attention to politics.

“Luck” is the residue of preparation, so don’t imagine that Trump is “lucky” that the FBI erased five months of texts between two adulterous lovers (who spoke of “insurance policies” and “the secret society”) at the center of every investigation within sniffing distance of Trump. Those are tabloid co-conspirator villains that every Joe Sixpack and Margie Hairdresser can understand.

You are so used to the bumbling amateur political maneuvering of the right that you project it onto a proven master of ceremonies, perhaps THE master in modern American history. If he had stumbled even once in the last three years, you might have a case for cynicism. This is what winning looks like. Enjoy it while it is happening! And help us all maintain that frame rather than being a doomsayer.

The weakness of the conservative is his disinclination to risk big and therefore win big. He hedges his bets by always predicting the worst, which will either vindicate him or leave him “happily surprised.” But that doesn’t account for all the demoralization along the way, just to “conserve” the mean little assets he has hoarded for himself.

I was asking a sincere question, having just read about the “secret” memo that apparently the entire congress already knows about… and it seems many of them are starting to shit the proverbial bricks.

You know me… I’m chomping at the bit to say “FINALLY!” 😉

has Greg gone to the other side? and is now a liberal ?

Alas, another jest and movie homage fallen flat! And here I was, on a pretty good streak lately.

That “we well-intentioned young White liberals” line is from the movie Cutter’s Way, starring John Heard in what should have been an Oscar-worthy performance that year, and Jeff Bridges.

The scene is, Heard is a Vietnam vet who lost an arm in the war and is otherwise pretty racked up, drinking in a bar and holding court, looking like the last biker on earth, and he calls one of the guys sitting with them “Rastus, the house n1gger” as a wry introduction when Bridges walks in. Two other spades then come over with threatening looks and Heard just looks at them and says “Wha, did I say something wrong? What ARE we well-intentioned young White liberals calling you people nowadays?”

Bridges quickly tries to smooth things over and says “Hey guys, he’s a bit messed up… the war, you know?” And the spades then walk away, but Heard says “War? What war? I wasn’t in any war! Come back here, you fuck!”

You won’t be sorry… Cutter’s Way is the 80’s version of film noir, and see if you don’t agree that John Heard’s performance is one of the best tour de force male acting jobs ever. He always plays second banana normal nice guys in just about every other role I’ve ever scene, but he’s the star of this one, a one-eyed, one-armed vet with an obsession to solve a murder case when everyone else thinks he’s gone off the deep end.

The genesis and timing of this “story” is explained in one paragraph:

“Initially viewed as a heterosexual phenomenon, it’s increasingly prevalent among gay men, too. “I’d long gotten letters from straight couples into cuckolding (usually initiated by the husband), but none from gay couples until after marriage equality began to gather steam””

Of course, there’s more poz to spread:

“For gay men, cuckolding isn’t quite as taboo because the norm of lifelong monogamy isn’t so strong in the LGBT community”

That’s really understating the matter, dontchathink?

And now Trump is forcing them into that position yet again, but this time he’s upped the demands and lowered the benefits. It’s getting increasingly dangerous for Democrats to play this game, but by God they’re just begging to die on this hill and Trump is more than willing to oblige.’

‘[Don Corleone] offered Les Halley twenty thousand dollars to release Johnny Fontane from the personal services contract. Halley offered to take only fifty percent of Johnny’s earnings. Don Corleone was amused. He dropped his offer from twenty thousand dollars to ten thousand dollars. The band leader, obviously not a man of the world outside his beloved show business, completely missed the significance of this lower offer. He refused. The next day Don Corleone went to see the band leader personally. … Don Corleone persuaded Les Halley to sign a document giving up all rights to all services from Johnny Fontane upon payment of a certified check to the amount of ten thousand dollars. Don Corleone did this by putting a pistol to the forehead of the band leader and assuring him with the utmost seriousness that either his signature or his brains would rest on that document in exactly one minute. Les Halley signed.’

“…Don Corleone had no desire, no intention, of letting his youngest son be killed in the service of a power foreign to himself. Doctors had been bribed, secret arrangements had been made. A great deal of money had been spent to take the proper precautions.

“But Michael was twenty-one years of age and nothing could be done against his own willfulness. He enlisted and fought over the Pacific Ocean. He became a Captain and won medals. In 1944 his picture was printed in Life magazine with a photo layout of his deeds. A friend had shown Don Corleone the magazine (his family did not dare), and the Don had grunted disdainfully and said, “He performs those miracles for strangers.” ”

And that was for 90% White America.

Here we are, in the 17th year of sending our alphas off to foreign lands to risk their lives, only to protect the ‘rights’ of invaders to claim the use of our lands and send billions in cash to their home countries, to protect the ‘rights’ of the mentally ill to claim that their biology can be ignored and their ‘rights’ to not be offended by those of us who object, to protect the ‘rights’ of two finocchios to get ‘married’ and thus render marriage meaningless, and all the other crimes against the people and against nature, whitewashed as ‘enlightened attitudes’, that we daily comment on here.

No more performing miracles for strangers…
