The Gorsuch Effect

Praise Kek, the God Emperor has not betrayed his principles.

Garland (or another judge appointed by HRC) would vote to overturn Heller, thus eliminating individual 2nd Amendment gun rights, so we are ahead of the game even if Trump turns out to be another GW Bush. I’d like to see him appoint Cruz to the next Supreme Court seat.

When it was first mentioned here at Le Chateau, I agreed that Cruz would be a good SCOTUS appointment.

Right now he needs to find a way to win reelection in 2018, since Joquain “pedo face son of la raza founder” Castro is trying to unseat (heh) him.

Cruz and Scalia orchestrated the Heller decision which ruled that the Second Amendment gave gun rights to individuals. That was very much in question before. I give him a lot of credit for that.

Flip is stupid. Heller was terribly cucked.

By disclaiming the militia purpose it left the door open.

The real second amendment analysis is simple: yeah it’s tied to militia. Now define militia.

(All white men aged 18-55 have a duty, not merely a right, to own at least one “good” military class rifle.).

Today that is an M4 or M16.

Unless I’m mistaken, the Supreme Court isn’t required to hear a case. They read through all of the requested cases and decide before it ever gets there whether or not they want to give it a hearing. They’re not bound by the same rules as other courts.

The Supreme Court’s longevity (life postings) is an unusual feature for a democracy. Justices serve for life and their jurisprudence alignments rarely change much from decades before.

It is easy to imagine a Trump dictatorship — which would be very amusing– dispensing with the SCOTUS in the same way the Roman Senate was dispensed with by the Emperors of classical times.

In fact, a globalized American empire could do two things: (1) stabilize the world by imitating America’s system and culture; (2) build walls throughout the world for whites to hunker down behind, from Dagestan to New Guinea.

WE know he likes to play the long game, and he may be a 4D chessmaster etc, but what about the people who voted for him on his promises (wasn’t shrilary going to be investigated as soon as he took office?), those that chanted “build the wall”. And those who gave him a chance because he MAY be better for them than previous Presidents?

Those who are fairly non-political but still vote (ie most people, especially swing voters), or who are “Reagan Democrats”, want to see results. Even if they are for mainly inconsequential positives, overall. Something they can point to internally as reasons to vote GOP again.

They see the reverse. More of the “new boss same as the old boss”.

If those people don’t see progress, the GOP is in trouble come mid-terms, big time. They just won’t come out to vote. Why would they?

Not quite sure why the jubilation here. Trump needs to realize that the judiciary stopped interpreting the law a long time ago and is now actively blocking the agenda Trump was elected to carry out. Nose counting in the Supreme Court, where you know that there are four automatic votes for judicial interference, strikes me as very risky. Kennedy is a weather vane, Gorsuchis untested at the SCOTUS level and even Roberts leaves people scratching their heads. Moreover, don’t count on the DOJ lawyers handling the case to give it their best efforts. The career DOJ staff will look to their own careers first and may already be sensing that Trump is a likely one-term President. So go through the motions and, hey, if we lose, we lose–you can justify yourself to the next administration that you were following orders but your heart was never in it.

  19. I disagree. This is mere political theater. The Separation of Powers is clear on such things, the courts cannot overrule dictates of a sitting President over Executive Agencies. Obama simply ignored rulings until he shopped the case to a friendly judge to overturn it. None of the Left should complain, this is actually Constitutional Law. Judges have no jurisdiction on Executive Agencies. This violates separation of powers.
Trump is constantly stalling. He has put little or even no pressure on Ryan to fund the wall. He hasn’t withdrawn from NAFTA and now claims he’s gonna negotiate. Negotiate what? Mexico has no leverage at all. They are practically a vassal state that needs our money to simply survive economically. Canada has a population of a small US state. Having to negotiate anything with these ridiculous and practical non-entities is simply a delaying tactic.
