I'd be careful taking this Axios leak at face value. Trump knows by now that his gross shabbosity is killing his polling and destroying his legacy. Netanyahu knows that the perception Israel controls US foreign policy risks a US withdrawal of support.
This phone call theater (and the "leak") could have been concocted by both sides to stiffen the resolve of the wavering Maga Nagilas who were beginning to peel away from the association with Trump's rank philosemitism.
The other possilbility is even more damning of Trump, because it calls into question his basic intelligence. Trump could have been sincerely surprised by Israel's actions — and by Netanyahu's "ingratitude" — and his anger was unscripted and authentic.
But why would Trump be surprised? Any "savvy businessman" accumulating a lifetime of dealings with jews would know that jewishness and ingratitude are inseparable. Trump's baffling unfamiliarity with the JQ carries unflattering connotations…either he's a gullible idiot, or he's a willing and eager shabbos goy who expects his love of jews to be returned in kind.
A stupefyingly out-of-touch judeophile easily suckered by jews who can't believe their good fortune to have this orange leviathan frontgoy effortlessly fall for their ethnocentric schemes, but who suddenly whimpers like a street cur kicked in the ribs when he is betrayed by his beloved jews, screams "grandiose narcissist" to me.
And that's what Trump is when condensed to his vital character traits: a narcissist seeking validation from the one group that is possibly more narcissistic than himself.
