The Irish are historically a clannish people. From that perspective the Biden’s behavior makes sense and is directly in keeping with this. They were out for themselves and their family above all else. And the wealth brought in by the clan went to the clan and not solely to individual members.
Unlike Germanic societies, there seems to be less or no conception of the greater good of society amoung these clannish families.
That said this approach has it’s merits. It enabled them to fight off the Roman’s. They also successfully resisted the English kings for centuries before finally succumbing. And in todays modern world were the economic and governmental systems view people as atoms to be exploited most people are totally alone against the world. Clannishness would be a step up for most of us.
